Mathew studied at and qualified from the University of Greenwich in 1995. During his architectural education, Mat worked for Macintosh Haines & Kennedy architects and was involved with a number of building typologies, notably a new-build pharmaceutical plant and gained in depth experience on hotel, school, college and residential projects.
Mat went on to join Holford Associates, where he further developed his experience on a number of building typologies including educational, high-end residential conversions and a series of commercial office projects.
He joined Michael Aukett Architects in 1997 and became a Director in 2003. Mat has expanded his experience and skill further while working and directing a number of retail, commercial and mixed use schemes. These projects include the first environmental and energy efficient formats for Tesco stores; the masterplanning and delivery of commercial accommodation at both Solent and Farnborough Business Parks; large scale mixed use developments in Southampton – Mayflower Plaza and; 100 West Cromwell Road, Kensington, along with many other large scale sites in London.
As a founding partner at B3R Architects, Mat brings a level of experience and expertise, essential for building our portfolio of projects within the retail, commercial and mixed use sectors, with a strong ethos of adding value to projects and creating beautiful and sustainable environments for people to live, work, play and, ultimately thrive.
